Can Our Nation Withstand More National Disasters?
Wildfires have raged across the western States. Dams failed and caused tragic flooding in New Orleans. A bridge collapses in the Twin Cities. And experts say that the nation’s infrastructure is outdated and in need of serious repair.
To address these issues, Congress passed the 2007 Water Resources Development Act in October. The Act will provide funds for infrastructure such as flood control projects. The Act received broad bipartisan support and was presented to President Bush for signature on October 23, 2007.
