AuSable River Salmon Fishing- Where Did You Say?
When a fisherman hears the words AuSable River and Salmon fishing in the same sentence, he probably wonders how the two are related. Let’s face it, Michigan does not have a reputation as a Salmon fishing “hotspot”.
The AuSable River is located in the northeast part of the Michigan, with its starting point in Crawford county near the town of Frederick Michigan, it winds gently through the state to its end at Lake Huron.
The AuSable River was named by the French. The name means “with sand” in French. This term refers to the fact that the river is very deep with a sandy bottom which makes it ideal for Salmon. The river itself has many different portions, ranging from relatively fast water in narrow channels to wider, more gently flowing wide river channels and eddies and small lakes and tributaries.
