These days, almost anything under the sun can be searched and found online. Death records is no exception.  One of the best sites for free death records is http://www.publicrecords.onlinesearches.com.

This site allow anyone to search for free death records online. You can simply enter a zip code of the decreased along with the name and the results are displayed.

However, one disadvantage is that their database is quite limited and inaccurate at times. If you get no results with the site I mentioned above, another alternative is to use deathrecords.ws. This is a paid site but I find the cost to be reasonable and their database is much larger and more comphrensive. The results are also more accurate as well.
