How periodontal disease affect our oral hygiene
Periodontal disease or much known as gum disease is an infection of the tissues supporting our teeth. Periodontal disease attacks our sulcus just below our gum line. Our sulcus has a v-shaped gap between our teeth and this is where the damage occurs. As the damage progresses, our sulcus will develop to a pocket and the more damage it causes the deeper the pocket will be. In order to avoid periodontal disease or any other gum diseases, it is best that you know some factors that can increase the risk in developing gum diseases. The common cause of gum disease is smoking, poor oral hygiene, systemic diseases like diabetes, and gum injuries. Also, it’s best to treat this gum disease in its early stage to avoid complications. A common sign for gum disease on progress is a gum that easily bleeds when brushing and also gums that appears to be red and swollen.
