Swollen gum shows symptoms like inflammation, tenderness and red gums. It usually occurs on the gum line and it will develop to an advance periodontitis if it is left untreated. This infection will create pain and discomfort to the patient. We should be aware that the major source and reason why gums swell is because of plaque. Plaque is the source of harmful bacteria that should be eliminated to avoid swelling of gum as well as gum disease. Plaque stays on the surface of the teeth. If proper oral care is taken for granted swollen gum still persist. Oral care is very important so that swollen gums were avoided. Through regular brushing and flossing of teeth it signals good oral hygiene. The need to have regular dental check up with your dentist will also help in the prevention of periodontal disease.
