How You Can Learn to Play Piano
In the old days when young boys and girls were required to attain certain accomplishments so as to be received into polite society, it was the prerequisite that everyone learn the piano. Even middleclass families, who liked to copy the upper classes, made sure that their children learned to play the piano well enough to show off among their friends. Well into the sixties, every small town has a nice lady who gave lessons. Children went to her house for one hour one day each week for these precious lessons. At least they were precious to the parents.
The children were supposed to practice each day so that they would be letter perfect for the year end recital. At these recitals proud parents beamed at their would-be-concert pianist. The sounds might have been agonizing for the outsider, but to the parents the music sounded as if it came from angels. Then sadly, at the end of the sixties, fewer and fewer children took piano lessons and many of these ladies stopped giving lesson. But fear not you or your children can still become accomplished and add learning to play the piano to your already overloaded schedule. Just as children were told a century ago, piano lesson will stay with you forever. It’s true; the ability to make music is as close as we will ever come to angels.
