Gay and lesbian weddings are also starting to be recognized in some parts of the world. In the United States of America, gay and lesbian weddings are not fully recognized by the law, but many same sex couples have had commitment ceremonies done.

These are their equivalent to a wedding since they are not allowed by law to marry some one of the same sex.

These weddings are recognized in the Netherlands and many people there experience freedom to express themselves and their sexuality.
