Raising Confident Kids

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Sometimes, the most insignificant events can, over time, work to undermine your child’s self confidence. No matter how hard you try as a parent, raising confident kids will almost always involve repairing some damage before it gets too bad. Raising confident children begins with encouraging them, but it is important that you offer the right kind of encouragement. A lot of experts in how to raise confident children say that it is important not to tie the idea of self-confidence to results. If you tell your children that they should try because they can accomplish whatever they are working at at the time, they will lose confidence in themselves when they fail.

Boost Thinking Skills For Children

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

This might mean having a special time at home for all children (if there are more than one) to work on their homework. This means the child that needs help with thinking skills won’t worry about missing out on the fun, and they will be more willing to focus on what they are doing instead. If it is the same time each day, that also helps keep the distractions away. If their friends know they study right after school or right after dinner, they are less likely to pop by. It is also important to keep distractions of other types to a minimum to help boost thinking skills. That means there should be no radio and no television going while homework is being done.

How To Find Homework Help

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

If you have school age children, you may hear one complaint over and over again. Homework is piling up and many have to do hours of it after school. If you have a child that is very bright, they may not care about it, and will get it done very quickly. Most children, however, have a problem at some point, and some have great struggles. This might mean they are spending all of their free time on homework. This can make learning seem like a chore, and that is not a good thing. When this happens, parents need to help children find a good source of homework help. Sometimes, parents are a great source of help. I know that my husband and I had completely opposite strengths in high school, and that might mean that between the two of us, we can offer most of the homework help that our daughter might need in the future.
