Anti Virus Reviews – Data Protection For The Small Business

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

The owner of the small business – always insecure, always frugal, ever aware of how any upheaval or rocking of the boat can upend a carefully thought-out business plan. But nothing can quite upset carefully laid-out plans as can a computer malfunction from a malicious malware attack. You wouldn’t leave your front door unsecured at night, and you shouldn’t let one of the 20 million viruses out there find their way into your unsecured compute either. An infection when you get it, (and not if), affects not only you, it also affects all your business partners – your suppliers, your customers. But bet that you didn’t know this, a lot of viruses out there today are custom-made for the small business.

A Look At The Mac

Monday, December 14th, 2009

The Mac or Macintosh computers is a series of personal computers that are designed, developed and marketed by the Apple Inc. The first Macintosh was introduced to the market on January 1984 and is the first commercially successful personal computer that featured a mouse and a graphical user interface that replaced a command-line interface. After a market shift towards IBM Pc machines in the later half of the 1980s, it was time for the Macintosh computers to be re-branded and in 1998, the iMac, which was a consumer level desktop model, was consolidated and was a sales success. Current Macintosh computers are mainly targeted at home, education and professional markets and have had sales successes in all of these areas.

Is There A Future In Direct Email Marketing?

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

The delivery of standalone text, HTML and Rich Media to permission-based email lists has continued to be the most cost-efficient means of customer acquisition and retention that is available. The Return on Investment (ROI) in direct email marketing has been made possible thanks to the availability of more accurate, richer subscriber data and improved subscriber segmentation technologies. In fact, any company that fails to appropriately evolve email as a marketing tool is competitively and strategically disadvantaged. Email marketing solutions appropriately fit into this picture. The continuing exponential growth of SPAM or unsolicited email however seems to place downward pressures on email rates, however ingenious email marketing solutions have been, to a certain extent, able to go round this hurdle.

The Virtues And Trade-Offs Of Database Indexing

Friday, December 4th, 2009

We typically think of a database as a store of digital data, but a database can be a store of written data as well. From this perspective of definition, a library is a database. Despite their differences, a library of books and a database have much in common. Neither the librarian nor the database administrator simply haphazardly stores the data in the next available slot. Both categorize their data. The library has a section for philosophy and psychology, for science and other non-fiction books, one for drama, another for English and so on. Similarly, a digitized data base will store system data in one folder, programs in another, business data in yet another, and so on.

Looking At Computer Processor Specs

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

When buying a computer system, the processor is an important consideration. This is because the computer processor may determine such things as the computer speed as well as the ability to run certain processor-demanding applications. If you plan to build your own computer, then take time to look at the computer processor compatibility with the motherboard. The process of processor selection is however made easy by the fact that there are only three main processor manufacturers: Intel, Cyrix and AMD. The internet is full of reviews of processors from these three manufactures. Take time to look them up and see if they fit your compatibility and reliability shopping guide.

Starting A Blog That’s Successful

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Blogs run rampant on the internet as people clamor to document their trials and tribulations, to share pearls of wisdom and in general share their lives with the world. The greater the quantity of blogs, the greater the opportunity for comparison and inevitably some blogs will be better than others. Why are some blogs overloaded with traffic while others struggle for hits? There’s a reason why some blogs are successes and others aren’t. There are some little things you can do to increase traffic to your blog, but the success of your blog largely rides on how well you blog, simple as that. Some people are good bloggers, others are not. Starting a blog doesn’t cost anything, so anyone can start

Favorite Outdoor Propane Fire Pits

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

It was neat to be able to mix characters from different cartoons or outdoor propane fire pits and have them all play together. Having Pluto talk to Tigger was one of my favorite activities. They would have some of the most interesting conversations, and they would always end with a wrestling match. The only thing I regret was being so rough with my Winnie the Pooh toys. At the time, it was a lot of fun to play with them, but I wish I had more that I could pass on to my own kids. Still, I am quite happy to get them toys of their own.

Local Business and Internet Marketing

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

For any company, internet marketing is important. But even for traditional brick and mortar businesses, even those who don’t sell anything online but cater for local customers, internet marketing can expand their business and give the company more exposure locally. If you own a small company that relies on local business alone, don’t discount the power of internet marketing.

For a local company, internet marketing giving you exposure to people thousands of miles away is pretty pointless.  There’s no need to invest in what can be expensive marketing campaigns like pay-per-click or network-wide banner advertising, for instance. You know your target market—local people.  So the only promotion and advertising that will do you any good are promotions which target that market specifically.

If you don’t have a website already, then get one. If you don’t know enough HTML to get a web presence up then by all means pay someone to do it for you.  What might seem like an unnecessary expense will actually become a very important marketing strategy tool.  You’ll also want to make sure that your website is search engine optimized for your local area, and it’s well worth learning how to do this yourself rather than paying an expert to do it for you.

When it comes to your company, internet marketing strategy with search engine optimization won’t be like the SEO efforts needed by an online company.  If you run a computer repair shop, for instance, you won’t want to focus your attention and money on very general keywords that might be good for an online business whose customers can come from anywhere.  You’ll want them optimized for your local area.  Computer repair Stourbridge, for instance, might be a good keyword for you.
