A Novice Golf Set Can Position You on the Correct Path

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

With all of the different types and styles of golf equipment out there today it can be quite confusing for somebody just starting out. This is why it is advisable to get a beginner golf set. If you make this choice, it is usually a lot less expensive and it takes all the work out of the decision-making. Beginning golfers need to learn how to develop their skills, and with time these should improve. You only need to select clubs that are compatible with your ability, and as you get better you can upgrade to higher-quality clubs.

You need to start off with the basics and get them down first so there is no reason to spend a lot of money on a lot of different clubs. For example, a straight up ordinary beginner golf set could contain a Fairway 3 Wood, 450cc Driver, Irons, Hybrid 4-Wood, a Silver Diamond Putter and a stand bag. Around 14 clubs should be sufficient. Some people may select long irons instead of the hybrid; it’s a matter of personal preference. A lot of beginners like to use hybrids because they are multipurpose and that they perform the job of a fairway wood as well as the job of a long iron.

Learn The Theory Behind Golf Club Impact Position To Improve Your Shots

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

The swing plane is an important part of how you impact the ball. The swing plane is the angle at which the club travels through the swing. You want to make sure that your swing plane when going through the ball is parallel or close to parallel with your shaft position when you first address the ball. This will increase your chances of hitting the ball well. The impact point is a position on the swing path. However, the impact is the result that matters, although it is not what you should be thinking about when swinging. If you think more about where you going in the swing than the actual impact. If you get the swing position and plane right then your golf ball impact position will be good. The best impact position is slightly higher than the address position. This will give your ball the best flight through the air.All of these positions and swing plane theories may seem strange now, but once you start practicing or look at your swing in a mirror or recording it in a camera you will see the action behind these theories. Only with practice and determination will you get the golf ball impact position consistently right and improve your play.

Tips To Straighten Out Your Hook

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Much like overcoming the slice, the hook can be corrected by changing basic fundamentals in your game.

Tip 1: The Stance

Place the ball in the center or a little forward in your stance. Most golfers who hook the ball place the ball too far back in their stance. Keep the ball in the middle or even with your left heel (if you’re right-handed; right heel if your left-handed).

Be certain you place your feet in the direction of your target line. Both of the tips of your toes should be even, or a little to the left of the target line. This more open stance will help reduce the chances of hooking the golf ball. Don’t place your left foot ahead in your stance. Keep your feet even.
