Online Guitar Lessons

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Online guitar lessons are a great way to learn guitar. Cheaper and more convenient than private studio lessons, the technology is now at a point where the difference in quality is nonexistent and actually has many advantages.

Many guitar instructors are limited to a certain style. With the better online courses the styles and musical genres are practically unlimited. There is no boredom factor involved either. Many students quit guitar lessons if their teacher doesn’t know the songs, artists or type of music they like. The top courses cover all the bases. If you don’t like certain musical styles, don’t play them and go on to something else more interesting.

Do You Need Vocal Lessons?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Singing, dancing, and acting are common hobbies that people may take with them through adulthood. Not everyone can do these things professionally, of course, but they are things that can be fun, lifelong hobbies for those that really feel as if they have a gift for what they are doing. Singing is something that can be done on a stage or in a shower, but is not always something that comes naturally. Just like taking lessons to play a guitar or the drums, sometimes vocal lessons are a good idea if you want to sing as well as you possibly can. Some think that as a singer, they should have a natural ability and vocal lessons are not necessary. In fact, if you suggest them, they may be offended.

Fun And Easy Guitar Lessons For Kids

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Ever since I bought that Rock Band video game for xBox last Christmas, my 10-year-old son has been obsessed with guitars. He plays the game every single day, but that’s not enough for him. He really wants to “learn for real,” and has been begging me to let him sign up for a class. I’m actually happy that he’s interested in a creative pursuit like playing an instrument, so I’m all for this turn of events. That’s why I’ve recently been looking for information on guitar lessons for kids. Back when I was a child and wanted to learn how to play the piano, there was only one option available to me. My parents had to find a teacher who lived relatively close by, and I had to go to her house once a week for an hour-long lesson.

Helping Your Zune MP3 Player Reach It’s Full Potential

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

If you want your Zune MP3 player to really reach its full potential, follow these simple instructions. The first step in upgrading your Zune is to swap out the hard drive for something a bit more spacious. Let’s be frank – you can always use more storage, and it’s fairly simple to grab a bigger drive for your MP3 player and pop it in. An 80 gigabyte Toshiba drive will work just fine, or you can even rip one from an old iPod. Disassemble the casing of the Zune and install. Now doesn’t that feel a little more spacious? Are the restrictions for sharing songs on the Zune MP3 player getting you down? If you wirelessly grab a song from a friend, you can only listen to it three times before the Zune’s software deletes it.

The 12 String Acoustic Guitar

Monday, August 17th, 2009

When I was 14 years old I started listening to The Doors. Their power and dark moodiness blew me away (as it does most post-adolescents!), and I ended up plowing through their entire album collection. Almost everyone I’ve talked to has been through a “Doors” phase, and everyone finds something different about them to love. The inventiveness of the drumming, the all-around jazz/blues/rock fusion of the keyboards, and of course Jim Morrison’s voice and charisma usually top the list. And justifiably so. I loved most of their songs, but the one that stood out to me then – and still does today – is Spanish Caravan. In it, guitarist Robby Krieger opens with the most beautiful guitar solo, which was unlike anything I’d ever heard before. “What kind of guitar,” I asked myself, “makes that beautiful sound?”
