He was made a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1966 and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Jimmy Carter in 1980, which is the highest award that a civilian can receive in the United States. Wildlife Art Prints Make A Decorating Scheme That’s A Kid’s Dream-Come-True Room

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

Every parent knows that kids love the great outdoors, along with every little critter they spot. Animal Planet is a favorite television station with kids, too. Everything is new to them, so there isn’t a worm, lizard or birdie that escapes their notice. Some of the most popular bedding with kids are the cartoon and realistic animal prints. When your kids outgrow the nursery stage, it’s time to decorate the walls with more age appropriate pictures and decorations. Wildlife art prints are an economical way to put together a child’s fantasy world, dream-come-true bedroom. Most kids have a ton of stuffed animals and there’s always a few that go everywhere. Maybe yours is a Ninja Turtle, an elephant, or a big lounge fish pillow.

How Digital Pocket Cameras Work

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

For instance, if you’re buying the camera for a child or teenager, you’ll want to get one that is durable enough to stand up to the extra wear and tear it’s likely to be put through, and you’ll want to make sure it’s easy enough for a young person to use. If you’re buying the product for someone who is already familiar with how pocket digital cameras work, then you’ll probably want to spring for a few additional bells and whistles. Once you have a user and purpose in mind, the next step in buying pocket digital cameras is to make a list of the minimum features that the device should have. How many megapixels would be sufficient? How many different shooting modes do you want the camera to have? Do you want to be able to record videos as well as take snapshots?

Retirement Employment and Retirement Careers

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

For many retired people it is necessary or even desirable to continue working. Many people live longer than the retirement benefits they have saved for themselves and their families. They decide they need or want more money than they have allotted, which is where retirement employment comes in handy. While you can stay in the same field as you worked in previously, many retirees are thinking outside the box and going for fun careers.

Of course, what’s fun to one person may not be fun to another. If you’ve always dreamed of spending your time at the golf course, consider a job there. Or if you are someone who enjoys shopping a job at a retail store is recommended. Then of course there are all kind of superstores and department stores that are always hiring. For example at your average Wal-Mart store there are so many departments you are sure to find a job. You could work in the grocery department, apparel department, craft and hobby department, jewelry department or even as a front greeter.

Retirement age can also be the ideal time to explore your hidden dreams you’ve always wanted to try. Maybe you’ve always had an affinity for painting but never had the time. Retirement age is the perfect time to take up painting, sell your work or even teach an art class. There are so many different ways to spend your creativity and energy, many of which can be profitable. Perhaps you love sailing, if so giving marina tours can be an excellent way to make extra money. No matter what you love doing there should be a job that helps you enjoy it while you are getting paid.

There are plenty of resources that can teach you about retirement employment. AARP stands for the American Association of Retired Persons and is an organization who helps advocate for and educate those of retirement age. In addition there may be organizations, groups and clubs in your area that you may also want to check out. If you enjoy using the Internet you can find a wide variety of online groups for retired individuals who work or are planning to do so. These groups can introduce you to others in your age group and teach you more about working after retirement.

Ways To Use Graphic Design Software

Monday, November 10th, 2008

You may just find that there’s an artist in you after all! As a hobby, it’s a winner. Here’s a glance at just a few of the things you can do with such software. Ordinary text can be made three-dimensional and may include bevels, shadows and lighting effects. You can take your snapshot and erase unwanted components, such as the unattractive trashcan that slipped into the pic at the backyard barbecue or even your ex-girlfriend. You can stretch or otherwise resize your picture, layer one picture transparently over another and introduce brush strokes or charcoal effects that aren’t part of the original work. You can add color or change intensity and hues of existing colors.

Do You Have Music Poster?

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Advertising and graphic art really took off in the 1960s. It was the heyday for music posters, especially in the latter part of the decade when psychedelic, swirling colors were stuck to thousands of teenage bedroom walls. Everyone wanted a reminder of their guitar heroes or their favorite gigs. These posters are still popular today as each generation makes their bedroom a shrine to their music gods.

Auto Settings On Digital Cameras

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

If you are indoors at a large event, taking pictures at twilight, or if you are trying to capture fast motion, you are going to have to do more than use the auto setting. I know that using a digital camera on the auto setting has great results on my camera, even in some questionable lighting conditions. However, that does not mean the pictures are always what I want them to be. I have learned that the different settings are there for a reason, and they do work to some extent. They do not work miracles, but you should learn to use each one. Using a digital camera is going to be much more fun if you know a little more about what they can do.
